Constructor’s Notes (read me after solving)
Whoa, long time no see! Hello again. After what’s been a… much longer than expected hiatus (oops), I’m back here with another crossword for the puzzle blog.
It’s possible that you too can relate to the experience of falling out of touch with an activity, even one that you loved doing, because of a few small changes to the balance of your day to day life. Even when the disruption is gone, it always seems harder than it should to pick the thing back up again. Perhaps what I’m learning here is that my sense of motivation to do things is more driven by sheer inertia than I’d like to admit!
Anyway, what’s new here?
- Last year I published a number of puzzles to AVCX as part of their Lil AVCX 2025 roster. I’m going to see if I can repost some of them here over the next few months becuase I’m pretty pleased with how they turned out.
- If you happen to be reading this on the day of publication, you might also be interested in checking out the Puzzmo front page today – their crossword for Jan 26th is another one of mine!
- I came back to this website after a few months away and noticed that it was pretty broken! I’ve performed some spring cleaning to dust off the cobwebs and it *seems* to be running much better now, but if you notice anything odd during your visit, please let me know.
The file for this grid has been sitting on my hard drive awaiting completion for several months, and in that time my feelings towards the central apt pair went from love to hate and back to love, several times over. Many of the entries and clueing angles changed too. Some of those changes were actual improvements, but I think most of them were a result of just taking too long to get a finished thing out the door, and then getting bored of my earlier ideas. It’s a good reminder for me that the creative process thrives under a deadline.
